Christmas Maze

In this game, I had to listen to the words that was said. When you clicked on the right one it would tell you to click on another and will make a trial. So you basically have to go through a maze to get to a letter. Then you have to click on that letter and it will give your score. This was a very easy game for me, because I know a lot about Christmas. Next I would like to do this but with more and harder words.

After 3 or 4 minutes I almost finished it.

Integers

This game is all about Integers. This was a very confusing game for me, because I haven't done this topic in ages. Some I got wrong and some I got right. My reliever gave me some and advice and it was to add positive with positive and to always put the positive number first. So I learnt a lot from him. Next I would like to learn more on exponents with fractional bases.

Reflections - e asttle maths

In my e asttle test I had a great result. I had a 5b, I was really happy when I heard the great news. That means I have improved a whole lot. My teacher was very very happy with me and my result, and hopefully my family would be too. I did a great job because I was aiming for that kind of result. This result could get me into the school I have always been wanting to go to. But I also have to do good in my writing and reading. Overall, I did a great job and I am really proud of that.

How to make fried bread

Walt: write an explanation

Fried bread is a kind of bread that is fried in oil. It is mostly eaten by Maori’s, but other cultures eat it as well. It can be eaten with butter, jam and all kinds of spreads. It also can be dipped in soup water. To learn how to make fried bread here are the things you would need and the things you would have.

Here are the ingredients you would need. Flour, water, salt, baking powder. The things you would need is a bowl and a fork.

Here is the method you would have to do. Add your flour into the bowl, then add your salt and baking powder. Once that is done, stir the ingredients together. Slowly add your water in the dry ingredients and stir. Stir in a fast motion. Once it looks like bread, take the mixture out of the bowl, then knead the dough.

Once you have done roll it out and cut into suitable sizes. Then fry it on both sides. Turn when you see bubbles appearing. Then everything is done. Serve with butter or spreads.

Savoury Muffin

Early this week room 11 organised a date of making savoury muffins. We chose what flavours we were going to use. The savoury muffins we used were cheese, feta and spinach, kumara, are I think there were two more. I worked with Tupou Siale and the muffin we did was kumara. It was really simple to do, because the ingredients were already sorted out. I think we were the first ones to finish because it was really easy to do.

Multiples of 10

crazy taxi.png

In this game I have to try and crash into cars that have multiples of 10. I also have to avoid cars that do not have multiples of 10. This game was really easy for me, because all you do is crash into cars that are multiples of 10. Next I would like to learn how to solve math problems using efficient ways.

Word Problems

Walt: figure out word problems.

In this I had to answer the word problems. In this question I asked myself what 1/5 of 30 is, which is 6. So then I took 6 away from 30 and got the answer of 24. So that is how I did it. Overall this was really easy for me because I know fractions. Next I would like to learn how to multiply fractions, but it is used in word problems.

The Values of Sport

In sports, there are a lot of values but four words will mean a lot to others, or even athletes. So I’m going to tell you about the four words that mean a lot in the Commonwealth Games.

Teamwork
Team players are always good to have in a team. Only because their is a higher chance of winning more. You can’t win without support on your side, so that is why it is good to have a team by your side. Teamwork, can help you learn new skills, it could also encourage you to win more and you would be able to talk to someone when you are need. The best thing in teamwork, would have to be co-operation. Co-operation would help the team to bond with each other and to have faith in each other.

Excellence
Doing your best in sports, is a good thing to do. Good acts would help you win and to have faith in yourself. Setting your goals in something would be a great thing to do, because you can’t expect something without planning. Respecting others in competition would have to be something to always remember. So treat others the way you would like to be treated.

Excitement
Playing sports is a nail biting excitement. Laughter flying across the field, even tears. Joyful noises are always to be heard. Athletes are showing off their skills and fans are screaming their names. They’re providing entertainment for your eyes. The adrenaline rising and rising, sensational chants. Fantastic athletes, it’s just a mind blowing experience.

Fair Play
Being fair in sports is something that is always needed. Playing a game without fairness, will always be an upset game. People would start to walk away and there won’t any more fun. So that is why fairness is always needed. Being fair to others and the rules of the game, would lead to a successful game. So it’s always too good to play fair and to accept the consequences of losing. There will always be a chance of looking back and to correct the mistake you made.

Medals and awards have been given to many athletes for years. They have been rewarded for their fantastic play in sports.

How to play Rippa Rugby

How to play Rippa Rugby

Walt: write an explanation.

Rippa Rugby is a fun sport to play with your friends and family. It is a game that can be played by family and friends and it is very simple. This game is about passing the ball to your team mates and to score as much as you can in an amount of time.

Having an open space is always too good to use so it could be a better game. Like, no one can play Rippa Rugby in a small room, that’s just insane. Needing team players is just as important as knowing the rules of the game. Who plays Rippa Rugby without players? Having a referee reffing the game if always fair, because no one likes a game that has unfair players. Also you will need to have belts to stick your different coloured tags on. Also a rugby ball is needed.

Knowing how to play the game is very easy. All people have to do is to pass the ball backwards to your team mates. When you have the ball run towards your try line. Try and ignore your tags from being ripped of you. Once your tag has been ripped hand the ball over to your team mate. Then do the same thing all over again until you have scored.

Playing Rippa Rugby is a very fun game to play. Especially when everyone plays fair. It’s a game of laughter and competition, but people like the laughter part.

Graphics Technology

TANGY STRAWBERRY.png

At technology, I visited a site that had drawing tools and effects on it, which is Sumo Paint. It was really hard to draw my fruit from the paper to the internet. The easy part was knowing where all the tools were, because I've used this earlier this year.

Scale Drawings

scale.png

I learned to use scale to enlarge my drawing. I used a scale of 1cm to represent 3cm. This means that my drawing was 4 times bigger. The task was challenging because it was my first time enlarging a smaller picture. I need more practise on this topic, so I can be more confident with this. Next I would like to learn reduction of a picture.

How do you think NZ did in Commonwealth Games?

MEDAL TABLE.png

I think New Zealand did competitively well in the Commonwealth games, because they had the advantage of winning more medals, than England, Australia and India. Comparing the medal count to the population, it had a small ratio. Looking at England, Australia, and India’s population, they have big numbers, but New Zealand’s population was around 10 000. New Zealand had the opportunities to work in smaller towns and locations. But England, Australia and India would have to work in places where there are crowds of people. So New Zealand had the top medal ratio in the top 12 countries.

Positioning Fractions on the numberline

number line 2.png

Walt: position fractions on the number line.

In this game I have to know the order and size of fractions on the number line. It was challenging at first, until I got the hang of it. I got 3 right and 2 wrong. As I played the game, the fractions were difficult to position on the number line. To get 100% I would like to practise more and more. I would want to do more challenging examples of positioning fractions on the number line. Next I would like to learn how to position improper fractions on the number line.

Tuesday 29 July 2014

Comparing Fractions

Walt: compare fractions.

In this game I had to compare fractions. I already know how to compare fractions, but when I did this activity it was confusing. I didn’t get the point of the game and I didn’t know what the arrows were for. So next time I play, I hope I would be able to do this activity.

Fraction Game - Addition

friut blast.png

Walt: to add fractions.

In this game I had to add factions. It was really easy to do because all I did was add the numerators. When I did this game, it was really hard to get the fruits, because other fruits would block it. So that was the challenging thing to do. But after all I got 18 right. Next I would like to learn more about equivalent fractions.

Following Directions

Walt: make connections.

In this game I have to take steps to the right place. This game was difficult at first because when they told me to take 5 steps, I would always end up with six steps. Which was very confusing, so I gave it to Arihi to do it for me. Then she got it right. Next I would like to do this activity again and then I would get 100%.

Spin and Spell

spelling a word.png

In this game I had to choose a subject and to spell the name of that subject. It was really easy, because the subject were easy words. The difficult part was picking the letters, because it was all the place. But at the end I got through it.

Soccer Lessons

Quan is showing us how to stop the ball from using his knee. I thought it was impossible until he showed us. When I tried it with Langa, and I always failed. The ball would always roll under my leg. Which was really funny.

Bus Money

Walt: solve problems in financial literacy.

In this game I have to check if the passengers had enough to ride on the bus. If they didn't have enough money, I would have to reject. Most passengers didn't have enough money, so I rejected them all. This wasn't challenging at all. It was only challenging when it went on to level 2 and 3. Next I would like to learn more about Algebra.

Giving Credit

Walt: solve problem in financial literacy.

In this game, I read how to trust people into giving them money. I thought it was going to be boring because it took ages for me to finish off the story. Then finally, I finished and right after that there was a quiz. The quiz was pretty easy, I got 4 out of 4. Next I would like to learn more about Algebra.
